Interim Report: Conflict Sensitive Adaptation

On the 18th of January 2012 adelphi presented the Midterm-Results of the research on Security Risks of Climate Change with regards to technical and political adaptation processes at a seminar in Berlin. The outcomes were discussed with experts from ministries, NGO’s and academia. The Research Project which started in October 2010 is undertaken on behalf of the Federal Environment Agency and analyses the interlinkages of climate change, adaptation, and crisis prevention. » more

New Project: Support of CSR Consultants from Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

The European Commission's EU 2020 Strategy highlights the significance of implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies in European small and medium-sized enterprises in order to foster growth, create jobs and enable sustainable development in Europe. On behalf of the European Commission, adelphi is supporting an exchange between European CSR consultants from small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) with the aim of enhancing the quality of the services on offer. » more

New Project: Indicators to monitor the Energy Transition

In the summer of 2011 the Federal Government passed energy transition legislation, initiating a wide-ranging and swift restructuring of Germany's energy system. The Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies e.V. (IASS) commissioned adelphi to select indicators which will help depict the various facets of this energy transition as comprehensively as possible. » more

New Project: Comprehending and reducing Rebound Effects

adelphi is working together with two project partners on behalf of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) to research the causes and the extent of rebound effects. The project will run over two years: the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI and Ernst Basler + Partner will firstly conduct an analysis of rebound effects and the actions required to reduce them. adelphi will subsequently use this as a basis to develop environmental policy recommendations which aim to prevent rebound effects in the area of energy and resources policy. » more

IMPACT Business Award 2011

The winners of the IMPACT Business Award 2011 were announced on 23rd December 2011 by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The international jury panel awarded 5 exemplary business models from Africa and Asia that present innovative products, services and technologies for climate change mitigation and adaptation to climate change. adelphi was responsible for the design and implementation of the award, from the promotion of the competition at the international level and the support to the applicants, to the management of the whole selection process. » more

Training on Energy Auditors and Energy Management Systems

From 11 to 17 December 2011, adelphi arranged an energy-efficiency study tour in New Delhi, India, with a focus on energy auditors and energy management systems. The event was commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and formed part of the “Regional Energy Efficiency Project”. The initiative involved representatives of ministries and other state institutions from Bangladesh and Nepal who deal the subject of energy efficiency. » more

Pilot Projects for Climate Change Adaptation in Southeast India

As part of the BMZ fast start finance project “Up-scaling Community Based Approaches to Climate Change Adaptation (CapCoast II)”, adelphi together with GIZ-ASEM, the Academy of Gandhian Studies (AGS) and AVVAI Village Welfare Society, developed and implemented 35 pilot projects to showcase climate change adaptation measures in southeast India. » more

Training on Energy Efficiency in Buildings in the Maghreb Region

With the conduction of the last training seminar on energy efficient building envelope in Rabat, Morocco, adelphi successfully completes a one-year training programme on energy efficiency in buildings for multipliers from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. On behalf of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), adelphi – in cooperation with Technische Hochschule Wildau and iproplan Planungsgesellschaft – designed and conducted a number of seven practical training seminars in Germany and the Maghreb region. » more

UN Side Event on Significance of Partnerships for Rio+20

As part of the second Intersessional Meeting held in New York from 15-16 December 2011 to prepare for the Rio+20 Summit 2012, adelphi organised a Side Event on 16 December on the topic of “Achieving Implementation – accountability, engagement and multi-stakeholder cooperation”. This event was part of the “Environmental cooperation with emerging countries” project, which was implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). » more

2011 SEED Awards

This year’s winners of the SEED Awards were announced on 15th December 2011 at a ceremony in New York. The SEED Awards for Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Development is an annual awards scheme designed to find the most promising, innovative and locally led start-up social and environmental entrepreneurs in countries with developing and emerging economies. In 2011 the international jury awarded a total of 35 initiatives that contribute significantly to poverty reduction and ecological sustainability. adelphi supports the award winners by a tailored short-term consulting and by organizing network meetings. » more
