Programme for energy efficiency in Kho Khao (PEEK)
The PEEK project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from hotels on the island of Kho Khao, Thailand, through implementing energy efficiency measures and funding investments in renewable energy. Measures include immediate no-cost and low-cost, simple investments in energy efficiency technologies and more complex renewable energy technologies, depending on the individual requirements of each hotel and the island.
Further elements of the project are regional workshops on this topic as well as the joint development of a Green Energy Concept for the island with local stakeholders. The project is funded under the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
