The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) plays an active role in addressing climate change as a security challenge. The "Scoping Study on the Security Implications of Climate Change in the OSCE Region" provides the knowledge basis for further OSCE activities in this regard. The project aims at developing recommendations for the OSCE on how to address climate and security issues at the political and operational level. The study reviews the latest knowledge on climate change and its implications for security and outlines key climate change trends in the Arctic, Central Asia and Southern Caucasus, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, and the Southern Mediterranean. Furthermore, it identifies relevant actors, policies and stakeholders at the global, regional, sub-regional and local levels. The findings of the study will be presented at the workshop in February 2010 to experts, representatives and delegations of the OSCE. The workshop is the opening of a comprehensive OSCE programme on climate change and security. adelphi plays an active role in collaborating with colleagues from the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) and CIMERA.
