PhD Peter Henschel
Senior Consultant and Associate

Dr Henschel joined adelphi as Senior Consultant and Senior Advisor and is responsible for supporting the GIZ programme Advisory Services for Environmental Management in India. His track record goes back to the 70ties where he has been instrumental in establishing and building up the laboratories of the at that time newly founded German Federal Environmental Agency and worked for many years as a Director and Professor of the Laboratory Division.

After his studies in Munich and Regensburg, he worked for many years in the field of federal environmental management (Federal Health Office and the Federal Environment Agency). As head of the environmental analytical laboratory, he supported national and international projects and advised them scientifically. He also represented the federal administration in national and international bodies (LAWA, BLUE, LAGA, ICES, COST). In various international delegations, he lead the implementation of project preparations and evaluations, including for Mexico, Turkey, India and the EU.

With this background and experience Peter Henschel joined the Indo-German Project "CPCB/SPCBs Environmental Quality Assessment and Control" (CPCB/GIZ) at CPCB as Senior Advisor and Team Leader in 1997, where he has been responsible for the ongoing successful cooperation between India and Germany using German and European practice and experience in the technical, legislative and enforcement field of environmental protection and pollution control.
