Clementine Burnley

Senior Project Manager
Clementine Burnley works as a Senior Project Manager for adelphi. Her work focuses on crisis early warning and disaster management; her areas of expertise include multilevel governance, participatory development practice and environmental security. Clementine implements and evaluates projects for national and international clients such as the European Commision, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and GIZ. Her geographic area of specialisation is Africa.
Before working for adelphi Clementine Burnley spent six years at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy. Her responsibilities there included thematic analysis of the Kimberley Process for Conflict Diamonds; expert consultations and data gathering for the FP7 security foresight project FORESEC; socio-economic concepts and data for Instability Modeling in the Caucasus Region; and project management tasks for the Global Atlas and Information Centre on Natural Resources and Conflict. As an independent consultant, she has worked on a project to derive indicators of environmental status from a combination of earth observation and ancillary data. She is author of several peer-reviewed papers, as well as numerous reports. As a freelance writer/editor Clementine Burnley has provided editing and writing services to various companies, including the Oxford University Press, and electronics corporations Matsushita and OKI.
Clementine Burnley holds a Joint Honours degree in Languages, Media Studies from Strathclyde and Glasgow University, and an M.Sc. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the United Kingdom. She has worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Manchester and at the University of Bedfordshire, England.
