Christian Kind
MSc Ecological Economics
Senior Project Manager

Christian Kind is a Senior Project Manager at adelphi. He has been implementing projects pertaining to climate, energy, and urban transformation for the past ten years. The investigation of required actions for different actors as a result of climate change is at the core of his work. The conversion of this information into the language and decision making architecture relevant for the target group is critical for this. Christian is further responsible for the topic area ‘Adaptation to climate change’. In his role, he coordinates the internal exchange and advancement of this segment at adelphi.

Christian has gathered substantial work experience in the design and management of research and consulting projects for national and international clients. Thus far, he has completed more than 35 projects at adelphi on behalf of German ministries and government agencies; the EU Commission; Foundations, such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF); as well as development organisations, such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).

Within his focus on environmental economics, Christian specialises in the analysis of policies and policy instruments. He expands the basis for technical planning of political decision-makers through cost-benefit analyses, surveys, evaluations, analysis of relevant actors, and field experiments. For instance, Christian assists with optimising the EU energy efficiency labels and introducing reporting requirements for the use of greenhouse gases by businesses. He further helps different actors with implementing activities for climate protection and adapting to the irreversible consequences of climate change through coaching, participatory vulnerability analysis, handbooks, and online tools. Targeted actors have ranged from coastal towns in India to high profile corporations.

Christian Kind is certified by Capacity WORKS. Geographically, he focuses his work on Germany, East Africa, and South Asia. He is a lecturer in behavioural economics at the private Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and has produced more than 20 scholarly publications.

Before his work at adelphi, Christian worked at the Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production and the Centre for European Economic Research. He completed his Master of Science in Ecological Economics with distinction at the University of Edinburgh. During his graduate studies, Christian was a recipient of a graduate scholarship provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Previously, he completed a Bachelor in Philosophy and Economics at University Bayreuth and the National University of Singapore.
