Nora Schlagenwerth is a project assistant in the field of international climate policy. She supports adelphi on projects to implement the Paris Climate Agreement.
Before joining adelphi, Nora gained first experience in international development cooperation and climate policy through internships: For the non-profit organization Germanwatch, she researched the socio-economic impacts of different electricity scenarios within the MENA region. At the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nora supported the Department for International Climate Policy and focused on how climate protection can be implemented in a gender sensitive manner. In Geneva she worked in the field of development cooperation at the German Permanent Mission to the UN and other International Organizations and dealt mainly with the topics of global health and Aid for Trade. As a student assistant, Nora worked at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) in the Public Relations Team. She gained further experiences through internships in the office of a member of the German Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag) and in the Federal Office of the Youth Association for the Protection of Nature (NAJU), and worked as a student assistant at the Institute of Political Science of the University of Münster. As a member of a youth delegation, Nora follows the UN climate negotiations as an observer.
Nora is currently studying Political Science at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin. She completed her bachelor's degree in Politics and Law at the University of Münster. In her thesis, she examined the participation opportunities of young people in the international negotiations on biodiversity (CBD). During her bachelor’s degree, Nora studied for one semester at the Latvijas Universitāte in Riga.
