Pia Kerres works as a project manager in the field of energy policy. In this role, she prepares energy policy background studies and analyses. Furthermore she devises study tours and conferences on energy policy in Germany and abroad. She has extensive experience in working with the energy partnerships and dialogues of the German federal government. In addition, she has a sound knowledge of electricity market design, renewable energy and energy policy. Her work at adelphi will primarily focus on the support of the energy policy dialogue of Germany with the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to joining adelphi, Pia completed a Professional Year at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. She supervised projects of a communication undertaking with the goal to promote Germany’s Energiewende abroad. She was also responsible for the bilateral cooperation with Mexico and the U.S. and organized the 4th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue. In her work for the transmission grid operator 50Hertz Transmission GmbH she wrote analyses on nodal pricing and facilitated the determination of strategic policy position for the company. At the gas company Linde AG she supported the public affairs team, especially in the run-up to the 2017 federal elections. At Evonik Industries AG, Pia worked on topics of circular economy and climate policy.
Pia has a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin. She wrote her master thesis on nodal pricing and demand response in the U.S. Previously, she completed a Bachelor of Science in European Public Administration from the Universiteit Twente in the Netherlands. During her undergraduate studies she studied as part of an Erasmus program at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain. Her master studies were supported by the Hertie Foundation and the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung.
