Sonya Ong works as a Research Analyst in the field of sustainable business and green economy. She supports the SEED team with communication strategies, digital analytics and programme outreach for eco-inclusive enterprise development programmes.
Prior to joining adelphi, Sonya gained professional experience in the media and public relations agencies Starcom Mediavest Group and Burson-Marsteller in Kuala Lumpur. In these positions, she worked on corporate and consumer brand campaigns where she managed client portfolios, conducted media and audience research, and planned 360° strategic media campaigns.
Sonya completed a Masters in Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin with a concentration in policy and data analysis, focusing on public communication and development policies. As part of her Master’s thesis in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, she explored the issue of citizen participation, and communication between institutions and citizens across transnational spaces in South East Asia. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications with first class honours from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
