Sonya Ong works at adelphi as an Analyst in the field of sustainable business and green economy transition. She currently works on enterprise acceleration programmes, practitioner labs for policy, and is involved in advocacy and communication strategy development for eco-inclusive entrepreneurship programmes. She also coordinates the Innovation Factory programme for the GIZ to support digital innovations for sustainable development in emerging economies.
Prior to joining adelphi, Sonya gained professional experience in the media and public relations agencies Starcom Mediavest Group and Burson-Marsteller in Kuala Lumpur. In these positions, she worked on corporate and consumer brand campaigns where she managed client portfolios, conducted media and audience research, and planned 360° strategic media campaigns.
Sonya completed a Master's degree in Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin with a concentration on policy and data analysis, focusing on public communication and development policies. As part of her Master’s thesis in collaboration with the ASEAN Foundation, she explored the issue of citizen participation and communication between institutions and citizens across transnational spaces in South East Asia. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications with first class honours from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
