On behalf of the European Commission adelphi will continue to lead the EMAS Helpdesk in 2011, providing extensive information on the European environmental management system to various interest groups such as companies, associations, environmental organisations and the public.
Already in 2010 adelphi supported the European Commission in the development and implementation of numerous information and marketing activities. The highlight was the international EMAS conference on 25 November in Brussels. High-level representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Belgian EU Council Presidency opened the conference, emphasising the potential of EMAS to increase the resource efficiency of businesses and other organisations. In addition, the approximately 250 participants were informed of other current EMAS issues by speakers from Europe, Australia, South Korea and the United States.
EMAS is the world's most advanced system for environmental management. Participants pledge to improve their environmental performance systematically and to publish relevant information in the EMAS environmental statement. Currently, about 4,550 organisations across Europe are EMAS registered and therefore entitled to use the EMAS logo.
