adelphi organises second study tour for Indian power plant experts

Due to low levels of efficiency in existing power plants, India's energy sector is currently unable to generate enough electricity to meet the country’s growing demands. In a study tour around Germany organised by adelphi, 20 Indian engineers will enhance their skills in this field.

The tour scheduled for September is the second of three expert trips, which adelphi is organising as part of the Indo-German Energy Programme, a joint project by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Indian Ministry of Power. The aim is to provide the Indian experts with in-depth information on crucial issues in thermal power plants, in particular concerning the operation and maintenance of supercritical steam power plants. Over the course of visits to Munich, Stuttgart and Aachen, among other locations, the participants will learn more about possible efficiency measures, for example boiler optimisation, turbine retrofitting, optimisation during operating, and fault diagnosis. Furthermore, the power plant engineers will gain an insight into research projects, visit suppliers and service companies, and build contacts with representatives from all areas of the energy industry.

The third and final study tour is scheduled for October 2012.
