To what extent do companies based in Germany integrate human rights into their business processes? The German Federal Government intends to find out with the monitoring process for the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) on business and human rights. It invited 1,800 companies to participate in a comprehensive survey at the end of July 2019. adelphi is providing support for the monitoring process in the context of a consortium coordinated by the auditing company Ernst & Young (EY).
The purpose of monitoring is to obtain qualitative statements on progress, challenges and costs for companies. They can also submit an implementation plan for the coming year on the NAP requirements. The project will review the actual implementation of the plans at the start of 2021.
adelphi is helping execute and analyse the monitoring process
The monitoring process consists of three survey phases, one each in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The first survey phase in November 2018 provided helpful information for the preparation and further development of the representative survey phase in 2019.
All company information is checked for plausibility with media and NGO reports. The participants are German-based companies with more than 500 employees.
