Nepal depends on the private sector when pushing forward a more efficient energy consumption. adelphi supports the Energy Efficiency Centre (EEC) to upgrade their services for businesses. A workshop in Kathmandu was the first step within the two-year project.
adelphi, together with its project partner Integration follows a business-driven approach to advance the services and financial sustainability of the ECC which is run by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). In order to strengthen marketability and skills, the Berlin-based think tank will draw on its extensive experience in business planning and promotion of market-oriented approaches.
The workshop was only the first step of the extensive capacity building and innovation programme, teaching its eight participants to analyse the ECC’s business model, and to improve their skill to communicate, handle clients and plan the budget. It will be followed by mentoring activites to further develop the business model of the centre.
Another important pillar of the support within the framework of the Nepal Energy Efficiency Programme (NEEP) is to set up a national energy auditor training and certification scheme and build a market for energy audits within Nepal. adelphi has been supporting NEEP since 2012.
