In an event entitled "Liveable Cities in a Changing Climate" to be held on 31 January in the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), the Competence Centre on Climate Impacts and Adaptation (KomPass) will address the issues of prevention, protection and development in municipal planning and proje
The event will present Germany's range of support measures and enable participants from small to mid-sized cities and communities, as well as regional districts, to enhance them. The aim is to discuss challenges and explore systematic methods for aligning municipal development projects and planning processes with the demands of climate change adaptation.
The session will provide a short overview of the functions of the current "Klimalotse", which was launched in 2010 by the Federal Environment Agency, and will cover its areas of use in adaptation strategies. Afterwards, participants will be able to contribute their own opinions and formulate requests and suggestions for improvements, such as future focuses and user-friendliness.
The outcomes of the workshop will form a basis for optimising the online guidelines in order to offer municipalities an adaptation tool that is as customised and user-friendly as possible. Together with Prognos AG and with the support of ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, adelphi is currently revising the first version.
