The 2016 SEED Awards focuses on eco-enterprises working at the grassroots level on the African continent. This year, social and environmental companies from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa and Uganda can apply for up to 15 SAG-SEED Awards, supported by the SWITCH-Africa Green project. Enterprises from Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia can apply for up to four SEED Africa Awards. The SEED Gender Equality Award in Kenya encourages enterprises that are led or owned by women and specifically promote gender equality and women empowerment to submit their applications.
SEED Awards Winners receive individual business support
The SEED Award Winners are selected by the independent SEED International Jury of experts and stand out because of their innovative products or services, and potential to become financially sustainable. The SEED Award Winners will be honoured at a high-level International Awards Ceremony during the SEED Africa Symposium 2016 from 28-29 September 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya.
Furthermore, all winning enterprise will receive individual capacity building support during the important start-up and growth phase. In addition, they will benefit from opportunities to link to other eco-enterprises and far-reaching national and international profiling of their enterprises.

For the 2016 SEED Awards cycle, SEED has received support from the SWITCH-Africa Green project, which is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) with the assistance of the European Union.
