In the summer of 2011 the Federal Government passed energy transition legislation, initiating a wide-ranging and swift restructuring of Germany's energy system. The Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies e.V. (IASS) commissioned adelphi to select indicators which will help depict the various facets of this energy transition as comprehensively as possible.
The energy transition is a challenging and highly complex undertaking which aims to phase out nuclear energy for civilian use in the near future. The IASS is providing the Federal Government with scientific assistance in this endeavour, supported by adelphi. adelphi's study will provide the basis required to competently manage the energy transition and enable a balanced and well-founded assessment of the situation should conflicting goals arise.
