On Friday 18 November 2011, UN Under-Secretary-General Sha Zukang opened the exhibition on "Environment, Conflict and Cooperation" (ECC) in Zhuhai, China. The exhibition was jointly conceptualized by the Chinese environmental organization CSSD (Chinese Society for Sustainable Development)
Over the past months, adelphi has developed a regional component for the exhibition together with the Chinese environmental organization CSSD (Chinese Society für Sustainable Development). For the presentation in China, the complete exhibition has also been translated into Chinese. From a Chinese perspective, extreme weather events, water scarcity and food insecurity do not represent a immediate threat to national security - however, they increasingly compromise economic development and social stability. The consequences of climate change for urban infrastructure, agriculture and health can hardly be ignored.
The exhibition will be shown in other Chinese cities in the course of the coming year. Please find more information here: https://exhibition.ecc-platform.org
