National Cleaner Production Centres (NCPCs) are designed to support the local private economy in their efforts to become more resource efficient and environmentally oriented, but often face considerable constraints regarding business skills, financial sustainability and customer-oriented service delivery. Adelphi has been contracted to support centres in Kenya, Serbia and Sri Lanka with capacity building in order to improve their services for businesses.
The private sector plays a pivotal role in combating environmental problems and contributing to resource efficiency in emerging and developing economies. In the project “Capacity development for the promotion of a resource-efficient, environmentally oriented private sector”, jointly organised by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), adelphi will assist the NCPCs in Kenya, Serbia and Sri Lanka in realigning their business model, organisational structure and public relation strategy.
After an in-depth context and organisational analysis of the individual NCPCs, adelphi will focus on the development and implementation of a participatory innovation and capacity development process. In order to strengthen marketability, skills and financial sustainability, adelphi will draw on its extensive experience in business model development and promotion of entrepreneurial approaches.
