The goal of establishing a Green Economy has presented new opportunities and challenges to international development. adelphi provided support to the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusamenarbeit) in the design of a one-week training programme, through which 40 to 60 participants gained an overview of current policy and advisory approaches in the context of the Green Economy and Green Growth.

The training identified approaches to the promotion of sustainable economic development in the areas of economic policy, private sector development, professional training/labour markets and the development of financial systems. In order to enrich the training with illustrative practical examples, excursions to relevant institutions in and around Berlin also took place. These visits included public institutions as well as companies and NGOs.
