Global SCP Clearinghouse: Sharing knowledge, enhancing cooperations for sustainability

“Green” products and the principle of sustainable consumption are both rapidly developing around the world, though differently. This has increased the necessity of international exchange on designing policy frameworks, and the expansion of partnerships and international cooperation at the United Nations level have proven trailblazing in this regard. 

The interactive UNEP platform Global SCP Clearinghouse makes global policies, best practice examples, tools, news and events relating to sustainable consumption and production (SCP) available to the public. The platform is meant to offer a one-stop hub bringing together and expanding the SCP community worldwide through a harmonized knowledge and experience-sharing environment that will lead to more innovation and cooperation towards the implementation of SCP. Moreover, the platform presents information on the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).

Commissioned by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), adelphi has prepared forerunner projects that will serve as the German contribution to the platform. The effort has compiled initiatives, programmes, websites, and studies on different topics initiated by business, the policy sector, and the broader public.
