During a two-week professional study tour, 12 mid to senior level managers from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. and the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board were trained in eco-industrial park management and development. The goal was to exchange technological information and knowledge between Germany and India. Therefore, the tour focused on field trips to industrial sites and encouraged dialogues with German experts such as delegates from public institutions, public/private companies, service providers, PPP players, operators of environmental infrastructure facilities and planning experts.
Participants gained a deep understanding of the eco-industrial approach and its potential for sustainable development in Andhra Pradesh, India. They also familiarised themselves with the required planning and clearance processes, infrastructure and service elements in eco-industrial estates based on other countries’ best practices.
