The EMAS Awards 2012, given by the European Commission’s Directorate General for the Environment, recognised organisations for their sustainable use of water resources. adelphi was assigned to organise the award ceremony for the second consecutive time. It took place in Brussels on 29 November 2012.
The EMAS Awards are regarded as the most prestigious environmental management prize in Europe. Since 2005, the Directorate General for the Environment has been awarding the environmental performance of EMAS-registered organisations in six categories, with a different focus area each year. 2012’s award centred on water management, water efficiency, and water quality, including measures that help to reduce the amount of water that is used in production processes and improve water quality.
adelphi assisted the European Commission during the selection process, which included the set-up of an international jury and choosing from the nominees that were proposed by EU Member States.
