The guideline “Umwelt- und Aufenthaltsqualität in urbanen Quartieren” (Amenity value and environmental quality in urban neighbourhoods) was published by the German Environmental Agency (UBA) originally. Municipal city planners working in built-up and mixed-use urban areas find recommendations how to achieve high environmental and amenity value. A good quality of life is possible in neighbourhoods where many people live and use space in diverse ways! Based on eight case studies in German cities, the authors looked at ways to regain and preserve green spaces. They analysed existing and new buildings to determine characteristics of climate friendly spatial planning. Within the framework of the BEACON project, adelphi and the city network OER adapted the brochure to the Romanian context.
