Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is becoming ever more important for businesses worldwide. Numerous concepts, instruments and guidelines are being developed which outline the fields of action for CSR and set the standards for sustainable business and reporting. The international norm ISO 26000:2010 (Guidance on Social Responsibility) is one of them. As an internationally applicable guidance norm, ISO 26000 assists businesses and organisations defining and implementing CSR standards. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), adelphi has prepared a practical tool, which describes the development and the provisions of ISO 26000. Moreover, it compares the provisions of ISO 26000 with existing CSR standards and provides a comprehensive overview of all relevant legal framework conditions. On this basis, the guide offers small and medium-sized enterprises practical, incremental advice on how to implement the ISO standard. Each of the seven ISO key topics are complemented with recommendations for the management and evaluation of CSR strategies.
