The international conference "Towards a Global Carbon Market – Prospects for Emissions Trading" held on April 11th and 12th, 2013 was a high level conference planned and organized by adelphi on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in Berlin.

The event brought together a number of ministers, experts, and stakeholders and drew an audience of over 200 participants from around the world. German Federal Environment Minister Peter Altmaier opened the two day gathering emphasizing that "A global carbon market requires stronger global cooperation".
