InWEnt and adelphi were initiating a three year training programme on convergence with EU environmental law in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Two training courses per year were conducted on selected priority areas in environmental policy and law in order to strengthen the regulatory capacity and overall administrative capacity of the respective environment ministries and subordinate bodies in the Southern Caucasus states.
These training programmes were subsequently developed with the partner institutions in each of the three Caucasus states and are to be embedded in a broader assistance framework to help these countries comply with major environmental legislation of the European Union (EU). The main aim of this programme was to strengthen administrative and legal environmental capacities, improve environmental and health conditions and regional cooperation.
