adelphi and Transparency International organise climate finance side event at COP20

The issue of financing climate mitigation and adaptation projects will be one of the most urgent questions at this year's UN Climate Change Conference in Lima. adelphi will contribute to the COP20 with a side event and will present its Climate Finance Readiness Training (CliFiT) on 12 December.

From 1-12 December 2014, parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will meet for a round of pathbreaking negotiations, prior to the hoped-for December 2015 adoption of a new international climate agreement in Paris. Over the next two weeks, solutions to the financing of climate mitigation and adaptation strategies will in particular be of critical importance.

Against this backdrop, adelphi and Transparency International will be organising the following event:

Tools for Climate Finance Readiness: building capacity to support increased finance flows
Friday 12th December 2014 13:15-14:45
Room: Maranga (130)

The side event will provide an open exchange of insights and experiences with capacity building tools for improving climate finance readiness: approaches to supporting coherent national finance frameworks, effective and transparent spending structures, access to international climate finance and strengthening integrity.

Within the framework of the discussions, Dennis Tänzler, Director International Climate Policy at adelphi will present experiences and insights drawn from his hands-on work with the adelphi-developed Climate Finance Readiness Training (CliFiT) Toolkit. The CliFiT training toolkit was developed with financial support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under the framework of the CF Ready Programme on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation (BMZ).

Alongside Dennis Tänzler, Yamil Bonduki (UNDP), Xing Fu-Bertaux (GIZ), Zakir Hussain Khan (TI Bangladesh) and Belynda Petrie (OneWorld) will also be on the panel. Moderation of the discussion will be provided by Brice Böhmer of Transparency International.
