Successful planning workshop to formalise eWaste channels in India

A first planning workshop for the eWaste Channel-project took place in Delhi on April 8th and 9th, 2010. This joint project developed by GTZ, Toxics Link, MAIT and Adelphi aims to increase eWaste recycling efficiency in India.

A detailed work programme and concrete project targets were developed, in a consultation of all project partners as well as a representative of the EU delegation, for the pilot cities Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Pune. The proceedings focused on research and development as well as on a concrete methodology for the training and capacity building programme. In the meantime first activities in the pilot cities have already started. In order to guarantee long-term success of the project, representatives of government and of the formal and informal recycling sectors were selected as initial contact persons.
