2015 is a critical year for climate action. At COP 21 in Paris, parties to the UNFCCC are expected to negotiate and agree on a new legally binding and universal agreement on climate. In the run-up to the Paris talks in December 2015, the European Union has already pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 per cent by 2030.
Against this backdrop, this brochure will inform you about the status quo of climate action in Germany in 2014. It contains convincing facts, figures and graphs. The first section describes the goals of climate mitigation policies. The second deals with the development of greenhouse gas emissions in specific sectors in 2014. Furthermore, the brochure describes recent trends in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The final chapters concentrate on the economic effects and societal aspects of climate mitigation.
Climate Action in Figures (2015 Edition) is the second brochure on this topic that adelphi has drafted and compiled with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). The 2014 edition can be downloaded here.
