The 2nd European Conference on 'Sustainable Energy Consumption,' under the Marrakech Process on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), took place in Berlin, 13-14 December 2005. The meeting addressed issues that dealt with, inter alia, sustainable production and the use of potential energy-driven products, including how to exploit them and what role public procurement should play in this. The objectives of the meeting included not only positioning the SCP as an important theme, but also to make concrete contributions to implementing sustainable consumption and production measures, discuss the role of each stakeholder group throughout the implementation process, and to develop EU policies and activities at the European level further.

This informal expert meeting was co-organised by the German Government, European Commission, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Over 70 experts representing governments, businesses, consumer and environmental organisations as well as research institutes from 17 countries participated. adelphi prepared and organised this meeting, chaired the working groups and documented the entire conference.
