Recommendations for the preparation of heat-health action plans in Germany: awareness and reception in federal states, districts and municipalities
Extremely hot summers, which may become more frequent in the future due to climate change, have a significant impact on human health and pose an enormous challenge to public health. In order to meet these challenges, a federal/state ad hoc working group on “Health adaptation to the consequences of climate change” has formulated recommendations for action in 2017 for the preparation of heat action plans to protect human health. Now, three years after the publication of these recommendations for action, a first assessment is being made in an evaluation project. How well known are the recommendations for action among the federal states, districts and municipalities and what developments have already been initiated as a result? Initial answers to these questions are provided by an online survey conducted in May/June 2020 in Germany.
