Thailand has adopted strategies, plans and policies to promote sustainable consumption and production (SCP). Monitoring these instruments is essential to ensure their successful implementation. On behalf of GIZ, adelphi is consulting the Thai government on the development of a comprehensive National SCP Monitoring and Evaluation System.
Monitoring and evaluation of SCP policies allows governments to track real progress made towards more sustainable production and consumption patterns, improve public transparency and raise awareness about SCP. In cooperation with the Thailand Environment Institute, adelphi is conducting a feasibility study and will make recommendations on how to set-up and implement such a system. The study will be based on an in-depth assessment of Thailand’s SCP status, international benchmarks and several multi-stakeholder consultations.
The project is part of the European Commission's SWITCH Programme, a regional environmental programme that seeks to promote SCP in Asia. It includes a Policy Support Component which targets national and regional policy frameworks and their potential to encourage the uptake of SCP practices.
