Energy-efficiency benchmarking helps determine possible savings, enabling a decrease in primary energy demands. A presentation by adelphi project manager, Georg Ratjen, on the prospects of this instrument is now available as a download.
Enhancing energy efficiency is key to ensuring the sustainable reduction of primary energy consumption. But what criteria can be used to analyse the potential? Energy-efficiency benchmarking provides a reliable assessment by comparing similar processes. The gap to best practice processes indicates the scope for improvement.
Georg Ratjen’s presentation at the Berliner Energietage, as part of the event “Boosting Energy Efficiency – a Key Pillar in the Energy Turnaround” organised by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, used everyday examples to illustrate the main challenges of energy-efficiency benchmarking. He also explored possible ways to interlink the instrument to existing political instruments and examined the outlook for the future. The presentation follows a study compiled by adelphi in cooperation with the Austrian Energy Agency on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
