Many municipalities have already implemented strategies and measures to adapt to the consequences of climate change. However, the question of the impact of these activities often remains unanswered. In this field, it is extremely important to learn quickly which implemented activities were effective and where adjustments may need to be made. The development of methods for monitoring climate resilience and the impact of adaptation measures is therefore becoming increasingly important.
In this context, adelphi continued to develop indicators and methods for monitoring urban climate resilience as part of the MONARES 2 project. The work was based on a set of indicators from the predecessor project MONARES 1 and focused, among other things, on validating the informative value of indicators. Furthermore, adelphi drafted a handout for municipalities on the role of climate adaptation in climate emergency municipalities. In addition, the project team developed a web app in which resilience profiles of all cities and larger municipalities in Germany can be accessed.
