In the framework of hosting SEED, adelphi implements a project financed by the International Climate Initiative (ICI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). Between 2013 and 2015, 20 promising start-up ventures from Colombia, India, Viet Nam, Tanzania and Uganda, whose innovative concepts contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation, will be rewarded with the SEED Low Carbon Award.
The Awardees will receive a support package, adjusted to the individual needs of scaling up social and environmental start-up enterprises with a focus on combating climate change. The support comprises a financial contribution and consulting services based on the "Sustainability Entrepreneurs Toolkit" developed by adelphi, aiming at bridging the missing middle. In the frame of the project duration, the SEED winners' progress and impact over time will be assessed and summarised in a study report. In addition, case studies on selected winning enterprises will be developed and disseminated.
